"Believe Me, if All Those Endearing Young Charms"

Cherry Plum (Prunus cerasifera) is one of few cherry genus as European native trees.
kerspruim (Prunus cerasifera) bij grens03-2

"Believe Me, if All Those Endearing Young Charms" is in general known as an Irish song [note 1]. ”Endearing” in the lyrics written by Irish poet Thomas Moore is such a lovely word that no japanese would not believe. He poured ”Endearing” to his sick wife, setting it to an old Irish melody. Certainly Ireland would be filled then with such traditional air. Irish music seems to be loved in whole world.

Saori Yuki [note 2] and Sachiko Yasuda cover the song, naturally translated lyrics in Japanese. [note 3]. The text seems to be rather socalled "liberal translation" and the lyrics is written in classical language that is not used any more. It's title sounds "Haru no hi no hana to kagayaku" which is uncommon usage even in Japanese but something unique.

Unfortunately the cover by sisters Yasuda is not available for "embedded copy". Instead, just I found, a cover by Ms.Yumi Kawashima. It's pity her text version is contemporary Japanese with which people talk. It is not dignity at all, doesn't match with melody although her vocal/soprano is beautiful. [note 4: 歌詞に於ける文語と現代口語]

Blueberries hanging the top in one direction. A little unusual individual example. In my field (germany & netherlands along river the Waal) they are mostly hybrids of the category= genus "Hyacinthoides".

1. The tune was first printed in a London songbook in 1775 , by another source also claimed in 1737. Anyway this melody was popular before Moore was born (his date: 28 May 1779 – 25 February 1852)

2. Her real name and the old stage name, Akiko Yasuda (born November 13, 1948), still active singer. Her elder sister is Sachiko Yasuda, also very known vocalists, nursery rhyme and soprano singer. They have been working long time together.
[ In November 2011 Saori Yuki collaborated with Pink Martini (Oregon, United States) and released an album with 12 songs by real Japanese text. The record label is Heinz, sold very well in more than 20 countries, and quickly gained popularity in the United States, Canada, Singapore and Greece (source ; pages of Saori Yuki and Pink Martini)] .

3. "Haru no hi no hana to kagayaku"春の日の花と輝く
Japanese lyrics: by Keizo Horiuchi 堀内敬三
春の日の花と輝く / うるわしき姿の / いつしかにあせてうつろう
世の冬は来るとも / わが心は変わる日なく / おん身をば慕いて
愛はなお緑いろ濃く / わが胸に生くべし

4. It's an interesting comparison between the old 'written' style and the new 'spoken' style if you have a little time.

Ladybird Beetles [並の天道虫 Asian lady beetle] update with Take-off films

This ladybird beetle is a known 'internationals'. It may lives in whole continents, Europe and North America as well. Why is it named Asian ladybird beetle? Because it came from Asia. Until 17 century Europe didn't know this species. A possibility is the fact that it might be brought by sailing vessels of the United East Indian Company (note 1).

If such case happened in 17 cuntury, tiny insects could survive with cargo in long ship journey from Asia to Europe. It's said nowadays too that the ladybird beetle is distributed in Nepal, China, Taiwan and Japan. In a case of the last land it could consider places such as (from) Dejima, Hirado and Nagasaki.

Nami-Tento-musi is the name in Japanese, means Common ladybird beetle. So not special type in Japan, you can easily find them here and there. Yet it's European name do not have 'common' instead of 'Asian', this is certainly very very 'common'. [note 2]

These two types belong to a species, exactly common ladybird beetle according to a book of the insect. Left-above : wings with which the insect flies. Its English name is therefore 'Ladybird' beetle. [note 3] It's said a lot of variations as concerns as colour, pattern, number of dots. Some are to collect them with different variations. The 4 dots upon dark surface looks nice and beautiful to my feeling.

A picture you watch here ↓tells that all of them came into inside from outside through ventilation-slits. And died mostly or going to die that you can see. It seems they wanted to escape from cold street, but after all miserable death by getting themself drying once being in my sleeping room, Why do they a kind of suicide? Though I've not much idea on a point, presumably male and female have just done their duty in order to make next generation. It's perhaps a crazy imagination isn't it!

Both have about 16-20 dots. but colors are slightly different. Left : yellowish, Right : reddish

This is the larva that differs completely from the adult. Yet I'm not sure this thing is the exact larva of Asian=common lady beetle, it could be associated with a fantasy huge animal socalled Ohmus which appears in the animation film by Miyazaki [note 4]

2. "Common" in English → of frequent or usual occurence; not extraordinary; general; habitual [as no.3 definition by Unabridged Webster's]. you may think,: just very ordinary, you would be tired of it.

3. In English : Asian ladybird beetle (UK?) / Asian lady beetle (US?). Scientific name : Harmonia axyridis. In Dutch : "Veelkleurig Aziatisch lieveheersbeestje" means "Multicolored Asian friendly gentleman ". Britain says "ladybirds" while Dutch says "kind man". It is controversial and funny, acoording to me, although there are both male and female upon the animal.

DATA tennis

Djokovic dominates not only men's tennis but also its statistic data in recent years.
You might have expected a big upset that once happened at US Open semi final 2014 (Nishikori vs Djokovic 6-4 1-6 7-6 6-3), At 2016, it seems to be an era of "big one + a couple of others". Who could have today thought such a victory by Nishikori?
In future occasion I'd like to hope second upset by Nishikori as a compatriots.

Novak won Miami Open 400

↓Press Association ; Sunday 3 April 2016 20.13 BST↓
Top seed Novak Djokovic continued his domination of men’s tennis with a 6-3 6-3 victory over Japan’s Kei Nishikori in the final of the Miami Open in Florida on Sunday.

Djokovic dropped serve in the first game but it was pretty much one-way traffic after that as he outclassed the sixth seed in all facets of the game on the hardcourt at Key Biscayne.
The 28-year-old Serb took 85 minutes to join American Andre Agassi as a six-time Miami Open winner, for his 63rd career title.
He claimed $1,028,300, becoming the sport’s all-time leading money-winner with career earnings approaching $100 million.

It is his fourth consecutive championship, and his 28th overall, in the Masters 1000, a series of nine tournaments considered the most prestigious other than the four grand slams. It is also Djokovic’s fourth title of 2016, following victories at the Australian Open, Qatar and Indian Wells. His only blemish on an otherwise perfect record so far this year came in Dubai in February, when he retired during a quarter-final with an eye infection.
